Payroll Officer Role
An Payroll Officer is responsible for accurately processing employee pay, managing payroll systems and ensuring compliance with legal, tax and reporting obligations. The role is vital in ensuring staff are paid correctly and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end for all employees accurately and on schedule
- Maintain payroll records, employee data and timesheets
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, awards and employment regulations
- Manage superannuation, leave accruals and payroll deductions
- Prepare payroll reports for finance, audits and management
- Resolve payroll queries and support employees with pay-related issues
- Liaise with HR and finance teams to ensure data accuracy and updates
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in payroll processing and systems
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, tax and superannuation requirements
- Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to interpret awards, agreements and contracts
- Good communications skills for internal and external liaison
