About the Role

The Senior Python Developer will design, build, and optimise backend services while contributing across the full stack to deliver modern, scalable and high-performing applications. You’ll work closely with product, design, and operations teams to drive end-to-end delivery — from early technical discovery through to deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvement.  You can independently deliver UI features in React (or similar) and connect the frontend to backend services without relying on another FE engineer.

You will:
  • Design, build and optimise Python backend services and APIs
  • Deliver full stack features end-to-end (backend + React/frontend)
  • Define architecture, select frameworks and drive engineering standards
  • Deploy, monitor, test and improve systems across cloud environments
  • Embed robust testing, security and CI/CD practices
  • Work directly with the Head of Security & Infrastructure and Senior DevOps Engineer
  • Operate with high autonomy in a low-structure environment
  • Mentor and guide engineers as the product grows
Note: This is a product engineering role — not a data engineering or machine learning position.

About You

You’re a Senior Software Engineer with deep Python backend expertise and the ability to deliver full-stack features end-to-end without relying on a front-end specialist. You’re comfortable operating autonomously, making technical decisions, and owning outcomes from idea to deployment.
You have:
  • 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with Python as a core backend language
  • Real full-stack capability — confident building UI features in React/Angular/Vue and connecting them to backend services
  • Strong experience across APIs, microservices, SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • A solid grasp of modern architecture, testing, CI/CD, security and maintainability
  • The ability to work in a low-structure, high-ownership environment, choosing frameworks and shaping architecture
  • Proven experience leading engineering decisions, mentoring peers and raising technical standards
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate across product and operations
  • A pragmatic, outcomes-focused approach — you enjoy building, shipping and improving products
