Are you an experienced accounts professional with exposure to inventory-based accounting who enjoys building processes and supporting a growing business?

We are partnering with a well-established wholesale and distribution business within the sporting and retail industry operating in Australia and New Zealand, seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts & Finance Officer to join their team in Hallam. This is a newly created position, designed to support business growth and strengthen the finance function across accounts, inventory reporting and administration.

This role will suit someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys working closely with warehouse and operations teams, and is confident working with Excel and Google Sheets in a high-volume, inventory-driven business.

About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function of the business, with a strong focus on accounts processing and inventory-related reporting.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Processing all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Managing supplier statements, credits, returns, and inventory-related adjustments
  • Following up outstanding customer accounts and preparing statements
  • Daily bank account reconciliations
  • Credit card reconciliations and receipt compliance
  • Uploading receipts and invoices into XERO
  • Assisting with inventory reconciliations, stock movements and discrepancies
  • Sales, margin and inventory and general analysis reporting using Excel
  • Assisting with GST processing, payroll support and compliance tasks
  • Supporting month-end and year-end reporting activities
  • Maintaining accurate financial and inventory records
  • Working closely with the warehouse team on stock-related queries
  • Providing general administrative support to the finance and operations teams
 
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance role within an inventory-based environment(retail, wholesale or distribution preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with reconciliations, inventory control or credit management
  • Exposure to accounting software, ideally XERO
  • Strong Excel skills(Experience with Google Sheets also welcomed)
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to process improvement
