This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your building, construction, trades or estimating experience in an On-Road Home Assessor role within the Home Claims team.
What does the role involve?
This role is ideal for someone looking to transition their hands-on building, construction or trade experience into an assessment-focused position, moving off the tools while remaining closely connected to the building and construction industry.
As a Home Assessor, you will attend properties in person or virtually to inspect and assess damage to domestic properties, determine appropriate repair methods and prepare accurate scopes of work for Home Claims approval.
Using your construction knowledge, you will review claim information, assess property damage, determine repair requirements and prepare repair and restoration cost estimates. You will work closely with customers, repairers, builders and internal stakeholders to ensure claims are managed efficiently, repair solutions are practical and cost-effective, and customers are supported throughout the claims journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attend customer properties in person or complete virtual assessments to validate damage, repair requirements and costs.
- Review photos, videos, reports and claim information to assess property damage and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Prepare accurate scopes of work and cost estimates for repair and restoration works.
- Negotiate repair costs and outcomes with builders and repair partners.
- Manage claims through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets and customer expectations are met.
- Provide recommendations regarding repairs, cash settlements and temporary accommodation requirements.
- Project manage the end-to-end repair process through onsite engagement, customer communication and stakeholder management.

About you?

- Experience within the building, construction, trades or estimating sectors, with the ability to apply your technical knowledge to property claims.
- Be based on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.
- Experience reviewing and preparing accurate scopes of work.
- A willingness to learn and develop within the insurance industry through a structured training program.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
