As a Desktop Home Assessor, you will manage home insurance claims from assessment through to completion. Using your building and construction knowledge, you will review claim information, assess property damage, determine the required scope of works, and prepare repair and restoration cost estimates.
Working closely with customers, repairers, builders, and internal stakeholders, you will ensure claims are managed efficiently, repair solutions are practical and cost-effective, and customers are supported throughout the process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing claim documentation, photographs, reports, and quotations to assess property damage.
- Conducting virtual assessments of damaged properties.
- Determining repair scopes and preparing accurate cost estimates.
- Negotiating repair costs and outcomes with builders and repair partners.
- Managing claims through to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Providing recommendations regarding repairs, cash settlements, and temporary accommodation requirements.
- Liaising with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and manage expectations.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Experience within the building, construction, trades, assessing, or estimating sectors, with the ability to apply your technical knowledge to property claims.
- Experience reviewing and preparing accurate scopes of work.
- A willingness to learn and develop within the insurance industry through a structured training program.
- Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- The ability to manage both phone-based and administrative tasks while building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
