We are currently recruiting for a Claims Manager on behalf of a leading Australian-owned underwriting agency specialising in property insurance. The organisation offers a diverse range of insurance products, with this role focused on leading the domestic Property Claims function.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, based in the Perth CBD office, offering an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced Claims Manager to lead a high-performing team of approximately 20 employees across Perth and interstate. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Property Claims function, driving operational excellence, improving claims outcomes and delivering a consistent, high-quality experience for brokers, customers and business partners. Working within a collaborative and technology-driven environment, you'll have the autonomy to influence strategy, lead continuous improvement initiatives and build a high-performing, customer-focused team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Property Claims team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence.
  • Oversee the end-to-end Property Claims function, ensuring fair, timely and compliant claims outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and act as the escalation point for complex and high-value claims.
  • Deliver an exceptional claims experience for brokers, customers and key business partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, property managers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive operational performance through effective cost management, supplier oversight and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and internal governance requirements.
  • Contribute to business strategy by identifying trends, managing portfolio performance and recommending improvements.

What's in it for you?
  • 12-month fixed-term contract with an established and growing organisation.
  • Salary between $130,000 - $150,000 + super, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working model, based in the Perth CBD office, with Wednesday and Thursday as work-from-home days.
  • A genuine leadership opportunity with the autonomy to influence strategy and drive meaningful change.
  • A collaborative, supportive culture that values initiative, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced industry professionals while further developing your leadership career.
  • The opportunity to shape the future direction of the Property Claims function and leave a lasting impact on the business.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years' experience managing property claims.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing claims teams and leaders.
  • Strong technical knowledge of property claims, governance, regulatory requirements and best-practice claims management.
  • A demonstrated track record of improving claims outcomes, operational performance and business processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Strong analytical, commercial and decision-making skills.
  • A proactive leadership style with a passion for coaching, continuous improvement and team engagement.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical expertise, people leadership and strategic thinking, we'd love to hear from you. For any specific questions, please contact Stephanie on stephanie@smaart.com.au
