About the Role
The Senior Python Developer will design, build, and optimise backend services while contributing across the full stack to deliver modern, scalable and high-performing applications. You’ll work closely with product, design, and operations teams to drive end-to-end delivery — from early technical discovery through to deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, building and enhancing backend services in Python, with contribution to frontend development using modern frameworks.
- Delivering full-stack solutions end-to-end, overseeing architecture, coding, testing, deployment and optimisation.
- Improving system performance, reliability and developer experience through better tooling, pipelines, testing practices and observability.
- Working across databases, APIs, microservices and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) to build scalable and maintainable systems.
- Leading technical decision-making, influencing engineering direction and embedding strong software engineering standards across the team.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years’ professional software development experience, with deep expertise in Python and strong full-stack capability.
- Solid experience with frontend technologies (React/Angular/Vue) and a strong understanding of how backend and frontend layers interact in production systems.
- Hands-on experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL), message brokers, APIs, microservices and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, security and maintainability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across product, design and operational teams.
- Proven experience leading engineering initiatives — mentoring peers, guiding design discussions and upholding quality and coding standards.
- Pragmatic problem-solver who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys shaping technical direction while still being hands-on.
